Press Release:
DETROIT, January 28, 2015— Paxahau Events is excited to announce the phase one lineup for the 2015 Movement Electronic Music Festival, taking place Memorial Day weekend, May 23-25 inside Detroit’s legendary Hart Plaza. The tenth edition of the highly coveted and independently produced three-day event will once again offer a wide spectrum of up-and-comers, local luminaries, trailblazers and pioneers in Techno, House and Hip-Hop, featuring headlining performances by Techno trailblazer Richie Hawtin, legendary hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg as DJ Snoopadelic as well as Boys Noize and Skrillex as Dog Blood. 2015 Grammy-nominated duo, Disclosure will make their festival debut and perform alongside some of their favorite acts for their traveling Wild Life showcase.
Since its inception, Movement has maintained its status and integrity as one of the longest-running independent music festivals in the country. When asked about the festival’s hesitation to acquisition by a larger corporation, Paxahau’s founder and festival director, Jason Huvaere, explains that the group did not see a presentation that had Detroit’s best interest in mind. “Detroit sets the tone for the world, and we are going to be very cautious to anything presented to us that doesn’t put the city first,” says Huvaere.
In celebration of the city’s vigorous music landscape and the festival’s commitment to local talent, this year’s lineup features countless hometown favorites and acclaimed local artists, including Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson, Matthew Dear, GRiZ and Danny Brown, just to name a few.
“This year’s lineup is a diverse group of legends, underground heroes and rising talent who have all been inspired by Detroit and its musical legacy at some point in their career,” says Paxahau’s Artist Coordinator, Chuck Flask. “We’re very excited to have the likes of Loco Dice, Dixon, DJ Snoopadelic, Carl Craig, Dog Blood, Disclosure and many local favorites, performing in the heart of the city we love most, on Memorial Day weekend.”
