I always get a little nervous (and, of course, a little excited) seeing remixes of older tunes from favourite artists, and worry about whether or not adequate justice has been done to the original. But fret not, because we have masters Tennis and Mind Against at the helm here, reviving the 2007 relic by putting their own characteristic darkly moody and danceable spin on it, while preserving the awesome uniqueness of the lovely, glitchy, and more than slightly surreal Trentemøller work. The track patiently builds up foreboding ominous tones with perfectly executed suspense, until the “WOW” moment when the beautifully perky undulating synth arpeggio presents itself more than halfway through, followed by a nod to the original with inclusion of the gorgeous ethereal pads, morose vocals, and glitchy synth bits that define “Always Something Better.” This remix is absolutely well-done and is a dancefloor bomb for sure, poised and waiting to explode.
